Craft Tip: Pace Yourself

If you are like I am, and get excited about new projects, then you know that one project can get you thinking about other creative projects. So, while you are working on one thing, you are planning the next thing, until you get so excited that you can not wait to start it. So, you put the current project to the side and begin the new one while your creative gears are still turning. Before you know it, you have a few halfway-finished projects that have been pushed to the side and are now piling up. Now you want to work on something but have no idea where to begin - or rather, where to finish!

The best thing to do is to avoid this situation altogether. Finish one thing before starting another. However, sometimes your ideas are just too fresh to wait! So, when you end up with a bunch of half-done projects, pace yourself. Find a starting point and work from there. There are a few ways to choose which one to finish first:

You can choose which one has the least amount of work left to do for completion. This method helps you feel like you can accomplish more in a short time, which may motivate you to keep working on your projects.

You can work on the project that you know you have all the necessary materials available for. This avoids the start-and-stop that may have helped contribute to the project being unfinished. It also gives you a chance to take stock of your craft supplies.

You can just choose something that you feel in the mood to do that day. For example, I currenttly have some projects that require painting and some that require sewing. If I feel like sewing, that is the one I will choose to complete first.

Or, if all else fails, just close your eyes and pick a project!

However you choose where to start, take your time and pace yourself with it. It's crafting, so it's supposed to be fun. Keep it that way by working on your time! Hmmmm, now what should I work on today...!!!

    1. Me too! It's one of the dangers of creativity! Sometimes picking up a project later gives us a fresh perspective on it and may help us find better ways to finish them. The important thing is to finish them though! If we have a game plan on how to get through it, we will be able to have beautiful, completed projects to show!!! I took my own advice from this post and was able to complete some old projects. That gave me a boost of creativity to start and complete some new ones too!!!
