Crafting Tip: Improvise

Many times, we try to complete a project or recipe or something, but we do not have everything we needed to complete it. Sometimes this sends us into a frantic panic, a rushed run to the store, or it just causes us not to do the project at all. Well, don't worry about it so much! Yes, having the right materials is ideal for completing a project and making it look good. But sometimes, the right materials are something we already have anyway! Some of my nicest projects were the result of improvisation. For example, if you don't have the right color of something, either change up the color scheme a little (it might add a nice touch) or figure out how to turn something into the right color (like dying it or painting it, as I did with the fabric for my second rag doll). Or, if you don't have the right fabric for the project, look around and see what you can use instead. It may even add a different texture to your project. So try not to freak out when you realize you don't have something. Just breathe and look around your home (sometimes even outside!) to see what you can make work.
