Caylin's Girly Bedroom Make-Over

I finally got the chance to finished revamping my little girl's room! Yay! It looks so girly and bright now, which is exactly what I was trying to accomplish. And, just to let you know, this "make-over" was extremely easy on the budget. I didn't paint the walls (partly because that made the project easier! Not easy to get painting done with a toddler on my heels!) And I tried to use materials I had on hand. The very few items I did purchase were pretty simple and cheap. All of the decorations are home made. So it is inexpensive and has a personal touch.

So lets start with some before pictures. (Please forgive the photo quality. They are pictures of pictures, so they look a little grainy.) When I decorated the room the first time, we did not know the sex of the baby (so much more fun that way!). So I chose a gender neutral safari theme. Lots of greens and browns.

I made the border from card stock

Then I drew, colored, and cut the animals over the crib. I got some safari reusable appliques to put around the rest of the room.

I love the giraffe and monkey beanie babies holding the curtains open!

I made the green pillow sham and the bolster pillow to match the decor.

And now for the remix!

Tulle "curtains" on the wall

Tulle for the window curtains. So Simple. I just draped them over the window. But I thought they looked cute so I left them that way. The tulle doesn't do much to block the sun out. But I wanted to let a little more sun in the room anyways. The brown and green were starting to make the room look a little dark to me, so I wanted more brightness.

I mixed and matched the bed stuff so I wouldn't have to buy a new set. Then I made a purple cover for the previously green bolster pillow.

Some little touches around the room. I painted this over a safari canvas print.

I did these drawings a while ago, so I made plastic canvas frames for them to match the room.

Construction paper and pipe cleaner butterflies around the room

I got a plain wooden switch plate from Wal-mart and painted it to match the room.
I recovered the waste basket that used to have a safari theme.

Construction paper flowers around the room to go with the butterflies

And some adorable ballerinas (with tutus)! I really liked these. As I was putting these on the wall, someone ordered two, so I decided to make them available in my shop!
And some ballet shoes (also available in my shop) to tie in with the theme.

Ok, friends. Thank you for checking out my new and improved, super girlyfied daughter's room! What do you think?
